Blood Transfusion
Training in blood transfusion is concerned with the procedures of taking blood from patients ? and administration of blood transfusions. The aim of the training is to minimize mistakes due to the fact that the medical act of blood transfusion involves manifold examinations of various identification details with emphasis on the safety of the patient and communication with him.
The training at the Meir hospital is intended for two trainees - one trainee from the medical staff and another from the nursing staff. The exercise is conducted with a smart doll, and the trainees are required to cope with various scenarios with all the necessary equipment at their disposal to carry out the procedure, from forms and stickers to identify the patient up to units of blood. At the end of the training, the trainees receive feedback from the instructors.
